    Description

    Vintage Wood Sign Post Office - Cicero original Black Gold Lettering 8’ long. Wonderfully interesting piece not sure how it ended up here in Maine. Found at a local estate where it has been hanging in a kitchen for decades. Owner believes it was from the Cicero, IL post office outside of Chicago but I have no documentation that can prove this claim. Sign is aged paint black with gold lettering very common early combination. It is not the “smaltz” style paint. It measures 8’ long and 10” wide. I do not know the year this sign was made and utilized. Possibly touched up over the years as there are some areas of black that are a slightly different tone. Quite a few small nail/screw holes throughout the face. There is paint loss and aging but no major areas of rot anywhere I could see. Has been kept inside many years which added to its preservation.
