Description
This coronation coin, or Crown, was minted in Gondor to celebrate the coronation of Aragorn as King Elessar Telcontar as well as his marriage to Arwen. He is shown on the obverse riding a horse and holding a flag with the White Tree of Gondor. Surrounding Aragorn, inscribed in Tengwar are the words "Elessar, Arwen, Gondor". On the reverse are the brothers Isildur and Anárion holding a shield featuring the White Tree. They stand on Andúril™ (meaning "Flame of the West"), Aragorn’s sword forged from the shards of Narsil. Below it are the Sevens Stones Palantíri and the words, "King Star" and "Year One" referring to the first year of the Fourth Age. Above the brothers are the seven stars of the House of Elendil. This heavy coin is mounted on a 30" silver colored chain.This Gondor Crown coin from the world of J. R. R. Tolkien is struck from solid nickel silver, measures 3.2 cm in diameter, and weighs about 13.2 grams. Mounted on a 30" plated chain that is certified nickel-free. Coin artwork by Greg Franck-Weiby.
