    Description

    ****UPDATE: After digging and digging and sifting through the archives, we can now confirm the game in which this historic piece was used by David Ortiz!!! This historic piece of Red Sox history was worn by Big Papi during Game 2 of the 2004 ALDS in Angels Stadium in Los Angeles, CA. Ortiz had 5 plate appearances that night, was intentionally walked three times, and stroked a hit.
    We were able to confirm this piece’s amazing identity through the MLB authentication hologram, which placed it in October 2004. After going through the footage from the Sox’ historic World Series Championship run, we saw the glove on Ortiz throughout Game 2. It was a different glove than what he had worn in Game 1 and subsequently in Game 3–lending further credence to the provenance of this amazing relic. Steiner acquired this glove after Game 2 and Ortiz signed it just days after the 2004 World Series ended at a team signing on October 30, 2004.
    You’re MORE than welcome to do your own research and re-watch the 2004 ALDS Game 2. It’s really cool to see this relic “on-screen”! Because the quality is a bit grainy on the old video, I’m also sharing some Getty archived photos from this game for your review. Enjoy!

    For sale from a private, adult-owned, non-smoking collection is a hand signed David Ortiz game used batting glove. This glove was signed by David Ortiz after he used it in a postseason game during the historic 2004 MLB season in which the Boston Red Sox won their most meaningful championship in franchise history. You can see the “04 GAME USED” written by Ortiz on the glove.
    This glove and Ortiz’s signature in silver sharpie is authenticated by Steiner Sports and comes with the resulting COA. Obtained by me in 2005 shortly after the new year and stored in a UV resistant display case in a dark safe ever since. Case not included in this sale.
    As you can see, Ortiz signed this glove on October 30, 2004 just three days after winning a World Series championship! An incredible piece of Red Sox history!
